C.S. Lewis - The Screwtape Letters (Adapted for the stage by Nigel Forde)

This award winning* satirical comedy is set in Professor Screwtape’s study in the timeless dominion of Hell. The play follows his attempts to train two junior devils, including his protégé Wormwood, in the fine art of temptation. He sets them to work on human subjects living in wartime England, who are unaware that they are being used as objects of his devilish schemes to secure their downfall. The reputation of Screwtape, depends on the success of his students.

With David Robinson’s “impressive Screwtape” and Nigel Forde’s “sparkling script” (The Stage), this play remains faithful to the original text, characters and themes created by Lewis, including perhaps the most serious subject of all, damnation.
